About the Cemetery

Mt. Vernon Cemetery encompasses 40 acres of gently rolling grounds in northeast Atchison. Paved interior roads allow vehicle access throughout, and walking paths wind through the older sections of the cemetery.

Visitors are welcome to walk the grounds, locate family markers, and spend time in quiet reflection. We ask that all visitors treat the grounds and markers with respect.

Visitor Notes
  • Pets are welcome on leash.
  • Please do not disturb floral arrangements or markers.
  • Photography for personal and genealogical use is welcome.
  • Funeral services take precedence — please yield to processions.
  • The office is available for burial record inquiries during office hours.

Nestled in the rural countryside, Mt. Vernon Cemetery has served as a place of remembrance, reflection, and reverence for generations of families.
